Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee increased the minimum wage on May 20, 2021 for the state. The new law will be effective immediately but the rate increases take place over the next few years. The current hourly minimum wage of $12.25 will gradually increase as follows:
- On January 1, 2023, the minimum hourly wage will increase to $13.00;
- On January 1, 2024, the minimum hourly wage will increase to $14.00; and
- On January 1, 2025, the minimum hourly wage will increase to $15.00.
